Admission of Early Childhood Development
  & Education Students

Admissions

Applicants to the Early Childhood Care and Education Programs at Sandersville Technical College are admitted to the program on a first-applied, first-qualified basis. Studentsmust complete all of the STC general admissions steps.

Practicums

A state mandated requirement for the Early Childhood Care and Education Program is that a satisfactory criminal background check is conducted on all students prior to Practicum I, Practicum II, and internship.  In order to continue with the program of study in Early Childhood Development at Sandersville Technical College, students must obtain a criminal background check from the local Sheriff's department. The information must be placed in a sealed envelop and given to the ECD Department Chairperson. There may be a nominal fee associated with the check. You will need to contact your local department to find out the cost of their background checks.

CPR Training


CPR training is required. Students will have to pay $35 for CPR training prior to any clinical experience.

 

Additionally, for the Child Development Associate I Certificate:

 

Students must have completed a minimum of 480 clock hours of working with young children indicating the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to meet the specific needs of children and families. The competencies are aligned with existing Child Development Associate (CDA) from the Council for Early Childhood Recognition. Documentation is required from an employer.
