Campus Security Act

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (originally known as the "Campus Security Act") was enacted by the United States Congress and signed into law by President George Bush in 1990. This law which applies to all institutions of higher education, both public and private that participate in any federal student aid programs requires schools to publicly disclose 3 years of campus crime statistics and basic security policies. It is named in memory of 19 year old Lehigh University freshman Jeanne Ann Clery who was assaulted and murdered while asleep in her residence hall room in 1986.

Statistics on the occurrence of murder, manslaughter, forcible/non-forcible sex offenses, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, arson and violations of drugs/alcohol/weapons, are compiled annually and made available to the public in this handbook and in the Annual Safety and Security Brochure. Notification of crimes that are reported to campus security authorities or local police agencies and are considered to be a threat to students and employees, will be made utilizing one or more of the following communication systems: Posted "Crime Watch" bulletins, mail system, the fax system and publications. For further information, consult the Security On Campus, Inc. webpage.

Crime Statistics

Sandersville Tech administration maintains an updated record of all criminal activities reported on campus by staff and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. These statistics are printed annually and are made available to all prospective students, currently enrolled students, and employees.
