STC Graduates 34 at 2007 Commencement

Sandersville Technical College hosted its 2006-2007 Commencement for 34 degree and diploma graduates this past Saturday at the Main Campus in Sandersville. Students from each of STC’s Campuses – the Main Campus in Sandersville, the STC Jefferson County Center, and the STC Hancock County Center - graduated in programs ranging from Accounting and Cosmetology to Medical Assisting and Networking Specialist.

STC President Dr. Lloyd Horadan congratulates the 2006-2007 graduates on their achievement at the Commencement Ceremony last Saturday in Sandersville.

STC was honored to have Georgia State Senator J.B. Powell of the 23 rd District as the 2007 STC Keynote Address Speaker. Senator Powell inspired the graduates to be forward looking during their life’s journey – to learn, grow, mature and help others.

During the ceremony, STC Registrar Geri Clements and Director of Student Services Johnnie Edge , presented the degrees and diplomas to the graduates. STC President, Dr. Lloyd Horadan, recognized honor graduates who had an overall GPA of at least 3.5, and who qualified for membership in the National Technical Honor Society. In his remarks to the graduating class, Horadan said “Congratulations for the obstacles you’ve overcome to be here tonight.”

The commencement ceremony also included the Medical Assisting Pinning of its programs’ graduates by Instructor Michelle Weatherford. The “pinning” is a rite of passage for a student. The student is no longer considered a learner of medical objectives but is looked upon by their peers who were once their preceptors in the clinical setting of their learning experience, as a member of the medical profession.

Following the ceremony, the graduates and their families were invited to a reception in the Student Center hosted by the STC Student Government Association.

The STC Board of Directors, faculty, and staff extend their congratulations to each graduate as they begin the next step in their career path.
