Snyder Awarded GED Scholarship

IMG_0059.jpg(Louisville, GA) – If you are looking for a good reason to return to school to pursue your GED, just take a leaf out of Patricia Snyder’s book. It is definitely worth reading. Snyder recently received her GED and is one of several deserving students who benefit annually from the GED Test Fee Scholarship.

GED Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in adult education classes, submit a completed application, have a financial need, and demonstrate signs of test readiness. The scholarships are made possible by the support of community donors—local businesses, civic groups, school administrators, and government officials.

“We are so thankful for the community’s overwhelming support of Adult Education at Sandersville Tech,” says Raydor Coneway, Adult Education Instructor at STC’s Jefferson County Center.

Within 2 months of relocating to Georgia from Florida and enrolling in Adult Education classes, Snyder (pictured, right) earned her GED, something she had been putting off for years. Patricia had attended GED classes while in Florida but never completed them.

“I had every excuse in the book for not getting my GED,” Patricia recalls her past. “I was literally going in circles with temporary jobs that were leading to nowhere,” Patricia states. “I got a new attitude and a new outlook on life since earning my GED.”

Due to her exceptional scores on the GED test, Patricia will graduate with honors. Letting no grass grow under her feet, she has also earned a Silver Level Georgia Work Ready Certificate and surpassed the minimum requirements on the COMPASS exam, the College’s placement exam. A mother of 4, Patricia is better prepared for the next phase in her life and is eagerly telling others that they can too.

“I recommend Sandersville Technical College to anyone in need of their GED; the Adult Education class has tons of resources to prepare you for the test and an instructor willing to go the extra mile for you,” explains Snyder. What’s next for Snyder now that she has her GED? She will start core classes this spring and aspires to earn a diploma in Practical Nursing.
