Adopt-A-School Program
By Justin Law
The Adopt-A-School Program is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and gives different businesses the opportunity to provide resources for the schools in Washington County, such as supplies, money, or services. Since the commitment is voluntary, there is no minimum or limit as to how much a business can contribute to the schools.
"It gives businesses an opportunity to work with the children," says Rhee Garrett of the Chamber of Commerce. "They [kids] can see some of the mentors of the community out and about doing good for the community."
This year around fifty businesses in Washington County are participating inthe Adopt-A-School Program. A yearly luncheon is held to keep the contributors updated on what is going on in the area for the schools. This year the luncheon was held November 15 at Sandersville Technical College. Wal-Mart provided the lunch.
