STC ROCKS – Reaching Out with Care and Knowledge
Sandersville Technical College began a new retention initiative this past winter quarter. In keeping with our “Culture of Caring” we have instituted a new recognition program called STC ROCKS. ROCKS stands for: Reaching Out with Care and Knowledge to our Students.
Our staff and faculty are dedicated to our student body, and we understand that we have to impart a caring attitude and share our knowledge with our students. We are also a cornerstone for many of our students because we provide steady and constant attention that they really need to succeed. Many of our students come to us with many personal problems, and they are looking for someone who cares but also someone who can lead them with knowledge in the right direction. |

As part of STC ROCKS, we wanted to acknowledge our students who excel in work ethics. As part of a statewide work ethics curriculum, the college works to help students identify and develop those personal characteristics often referred to as “good work habits”. At Sandersville Technical College, we believe that it is extremely important to identify, evaluate, and encourage good work habits as an integral part of the instructional program. Therefore, every student is graded on work ethics for every course that they take at STC. These grades actually are recorded on their transcripts.
The faculty at the College nominated students from the main campus in Sandersville and both Hancock and Jefferson County Centers who are excellent examples of individuals with good work habits. Ten students were selected and those students were honored on January 31, 2008 with a college-wide cookout: Brandon Phillips, Bernestine Strother, Terrell Sanders, Madeline Davis, Michael Surgbally, Teresa Munsey, Laverne Heggs, Tabitha Brown, Beverly Ann Sneed and Anthony Jordan. Please congratulate them on being a Top 10 at STC!
