STC Students Discover Their
"Ticket to the Future" in Chicago
Chicago, the financial and business capital of the Midwest, was a well suited place for over 1,600 future business leaders on the race to discovering their “Ticket to the Future.” Phi Beta Lambda, the largest and oldest student business organization in the world has chapters that span the globe.
Students from Sandersville Tech’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter joined conference participants from around the country and the world, to attend and compete at the National Conference in Chicago June 22-27. The competition consisted of over 50 different events which represented a wide range of activities and the business leadership development focus of PBL.
Tammy Summerlin, STC student and PBL Secretary, placed fifth overall in the national competition for Business Communications. This event provides recognition for PBL members who demonstrate competencies in writing, speaking, and listening concepts. Participants must complete in both a one-hour objective test and a writing exercise that lasts thirty minutes. Winners were chosen from among PBL’s membership of 250,000 students and advisers and represent some of the best and brightest of today’s college students.
