WCRMC Annual Community Health Fair a Great Success
WCRMC held the annual Community Health Fair on November 7th. This year's health fair was a great success with forty booths, which consisted of WCRMC departments, outside agencies and businesses.
The WCRMC departments that participated were: rehabilitation, radiology, laboratory, social services, respiratory, obstetrics, cardiac rehabilitation, Taekwondo, nursing services, dietary, Extended Care Facility, Wellness Works, and the WCRMC auxiliary volunteers.
The outside agencies and businesses that attended were: Georgia Telemedicine, Washington Co. Health Department, UGA Cooperative Extension Services, Personal Foot & Ankle, Care South, Regency Hospital, Touched by an Angel, Help Link, Independence Plus, Sandersville Technical College, University Home Health Care, United Hospice, Hospice Care Options, West Drug Company, Children's Healthcare Center, MCG, Wal-Mart Vision Center, Community Health Care Systems, Inc., Source Care Management, Medtronic, Heart of Georgia Sleep Med, Exchange Club, EMC Southern Security, DFCS, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Shepeard Community Blood Center, Heritage Inn, Wellcare of Georgia, and Nationwide Insurance.
The attendance was great despite the chilly weather. The health fair provides our community with free health screenings such as blood pressure, blood sugar, bone density, cholesterol, vision and weight. Around 180 Elementary students toured the displays at the health fair that consisted of the Sandersville Fire and Rescue Truck, Life-Med Helicopter and the WCRMCM-1 ambulance.
Anna Sheram health fair coordinator stated, "I would like to thank the hospital departments and outside agencies and businesses that made the health fair a success." Health Fair sponsors include: Sandersville Technical College, Washington EMC, M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Jet Food, Wal-Mart, and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
