STC Experiences Enrollment Growth for Fall Quarter
Sandersville Technical College today announced a projected fall quarter credit enrollment increase of 6.5 percent over last quarter putting the College’s single-term credit enrollment at 740 students. This makes the fourth consecutive quarter of enrollment increases for STC.
It is the record growth of the dual enrollment program at STC this quarter with nearly 200 students, a 10% increase over last year’s dual enrollment figures, which created such a substantial lift to the overall fall quarter enrollment.
“Students and parents see the benefit of dual enrollment - earning both college and high school credits at the same time. Many of the dual enrollment students who graduated high school in June have also returned to Sandersville Technical College and enrolled in more advanced programs. It is rewarding to see the relevance of technical education is being realized by more potential students in our communities,” said Erica Harden, Vice President of Educational Services.
Harden said the increases are not attributed to a single program, although health occupations, early childhood education, construction and welding programs continue to be in high demand.
In addition, Sandersville Technical College has attributed the enrollment growth to a number of different things including the increase in the number of flex-time, night, and online classes; classes at more location s; and an emphasis on our culture of caring by the faculty and staff for STC students.
STC President, Dr. Lloyd Horadan commented, “Economic development is a vital driving force on our enrollment numbers. With so much industry expansion in our area, the need for a qualified and well-trained workforce is greater than ever. With STC placing 99% of its graduates in jobs, people can see a tangible result for education beyond high school.”
“By developing the workforce in our community, we not only better the life of the individual student but also their family, our community and local economy,” Horadan said.
Sandersville Technical College offers over 50 associate degree, diploma and technical certificate programs of study. A Unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, Sandersville Technical College serves its 5-county service area with credit enrollment, adult education, ESL classes, continuing education and corporate training.
