Legislature Meets with STC
Sandersville Technical College met with state and local elected officials on Wednesday, December 5th over breakfast at STC’s Main Campus in Sandersville.
“This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the College and highlight the fiscal assistance needed from the state of Georgia to accomplish the mission of workforce development for the five counties we serve,” comments STC President Dr. Lloyd Horadan.
Attendees were informed of accomplishments such as record enrollment growth for the past six quarters, 100% pass rate on the state licensure exam for LPN students for the 7 th consecutive year, the success of the construction trades program and adult literacy programs, and the number of mining employees that are trained in safety at the school. While the accomplishments are many, STC operates with a grossly underfunded state budget for a school of its size.
Officials that attended included state representatives, senators, mayors, congressmen, and Board of Education representatives, as well as Chamber of Commerce officials. Many of the elected officials in attendance spoke to the group about the challenges faced by Georgia and the real need at Sandersville Tech. Each attendee assured STC Administration that they would keep Sandersville Tech and technical education as a whole in the forefront of their minds while planning the next budget year.

(Standing, center) U.S. State Senator Johnny Grant (District 25) speaks to the assembled elected officials about the need for technical education in our area and the benefit of Sandersville Technical College to his constituents at this year’s Legislative Breakfast.
