STC Hosts Health Fair for Local Government Employees

Sandersville – As part of the celebration of Georgia Public Employee Appreciation Week, Sandersville Technical College hosted a Health Fair at its Main Campus in Sandersville on May 6 th.

The College invited local public agencies including the Department of Transportation, Department of Human Resources, Washington State Prison, Probation Office, Department of Juvenile Justice, Regional Youth Detention Center, and Department of Natural Resources.

Employees were able to have discussions about their personal health – exercise, healthy eating, cholesterol screening, spa treatments, and more. And in the spirit of true health, several businesses talked to employees about their financial health.

Area businesses that participated in the health fair included Washington County Regional Medical Center, Wellness Works, Taekwondo at Wellness Works, Washington County Cooperative Extension Office, Edward Jones Investments, Merle Norman, Sam’s Club, VALIC Financial Advisors, and Sandersville Technical College Health Occupations and Cosmetology Departments.

Many local businesses also donated many items for the event, including: The Gift Basket, Surge Suppression of GA, Inc., The Beauty Junction, Merle Norman, Wellness Works, Taekwondo at Wellness Works, Edward Jones Investments, Jet Food Stores, Healthy Habit Massage Therapy, and ChapCo Residential Builders.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your personal health and what you can do to improve it with local resources,” says Regina Thomaston of STC who chaired the event. “We thank everyone who participated and donated items to make this event such a success!”
