Stay in School Grant Awarded

STC is pleased to announce that Tess Chapman has accepted a position at Sandersville Technical College as our Stay in School Coordinator. Tess will be working with 8 th graders from Washington County this year through the SIS grant.

STC’s newest member, Tess Chapman is the new
Stay in School Coordinator for Washington County.

Tess grew up in Milledgeville and is a graduate of Georgia College & State University. Tess resides in Sandersville with her husband of 13 years Scott Chapman and two busy boys, Zeke age 10 and Zeb age 5.

With experience as a teacher in Jefferson County and as a paraprofessional at WCHS, Tess saw firsthand the many needs of our students. This important position allows her to help both the students and the teachers meet their ultimate goal: giving each student the tools they need to succeed.

“I am excited about my new job because I know how imperative it is that we give our children the resources they need to move forward in school and life,” explains Tess.

“The Stay in School (SiS) Grant is a wonderful opportunity for Washington County. This Grant was awarded to only 17 applicants in the State of Georgia, and it will help us better equip the students, parents, teachers, and counselors.”

SiS In Brief

The Stay in School Initiative provides students early opportunities to explore career options and the connection between their current academic preparation and their future career opportunities. The process helps students in grades 8-12 focus on their high school course work and helps them transition to college and achieve a rewarding career.

For more information on the SiS Grant, please contact Tess Chapman, SiS Coordinator at tchapman@sandersvilletech.edu or (478) 553-2098.
