The Shepherds: Wanting More at STC

Southern Gospel Music is at the heart of this family from Sandersville, Georgia, but it is education that is top of mind for sisters Debra Shepherd and Sheri Haynes. These Sandersville native sisters are currently enrolled at Sandersville Technical College in the Business Office Technology (BOT) program to learn more about computers and managing their music business.

As the sisters talked about furthering their education, they decided to enroll in a computer class at Sandersville Tech. “I’d read about STC in the newspapers and the Fall Line Connector, so I’d heard about the great things going on there.” With teenagers at home and a family business to run, Debra and Sheri wanted to know more about the computer and the Internet. “

Both Sheri and Debra admitted that they were a little apprehensive about going back to school, but their BOT Advisor and Instructor Angie Yarbrough made it easy. “Angie worked with us to find classes that wouldn’t interfere with our travel schedule or the time we spend at home teaching our children,” explains Debra.

With their current single “On My Knees” at number 14 on the National Southern Gospel Charts and tour dates around the Southeastern United States, these two busy women count on the flexibility, helpfulness, and pleasant atmosphere Sandersville Tech had to offer. “We have enough pressures in our life; we didn’t want to worry about how we were going to make education a part of it. STC helped us achieve that.”

The BOT program includes a variety of classes to help students work proficiently in an automated office setting – word processing, database and spreadsheet fundamentals, accounting, computers, communications and so much more. To learn more about BOT and many other programs that STC has to offer, contact their Admissions Staff at (478) 553-2064, visit them online at www.sandersvilletech.edu and see what STC can do for you!

To find out more about The Shepherds music tour schedule, visit their web site at www.thesheperdsonline.com and click “Tour”. You can also find them on Sundays at the Kaolin Church of God on Route 15 in Sandersville.

The Shepherds’ business is going somewhere, and these two sisters are making every effort to keep it moving in the right direction. STC is proud of Debra, Sheri and their families and wishes them continued success with their education and careers.
